Kum Nye sometimes also known as Tibetan Yoga is a Buddhist form of body prayer and a gentle healing system. Using both meditation and very slow physical movements, Kum Nye can remove tension and calm the mind.
Meditation alone helps us to clear our overload minds of the many conflicting thoughts that rage inside. Meditation requires no special skills or equipment and can be done by anyone. All you need is to sit quietly with no distractions and just be. It is a simple technique but does take practice.
While in this position of being still, negative thoughts will enter your mind. Be aware of each one and then let it go and replace it with a positive or pleasant one. It will take time but with practice you will find less negative thoughts entering. Positive and powerful messages and or images will start to flow bringing you new ideas, confidence and inner peace.
The physical movements are performed very slowly thereby releasing tension and relaxing the body. The focus on moving slowing is to experience a wider sense and feeling. As an example, next time you are driving in a car, look straight down at the road; notice how fast the lines go by. Next, look out at the scenery and see how it passes much slower allowing us to take in the view.
The movements are very easy to follow and are gentle enough for anyone to do, from young children to seniors. As with meditation, no special skills or equipment are needed, just enough room to accommodate outstretched arms. Perform the exercises daily to relieve tension, increase your energy levels and promote a healthy and happy outlook on life. Normally a session would take from 15 to 30 minutes but can be longer if desired. Even if you can only devote 5 minutes a day to the exercises, you will enjoy the benefits.
Kum Nye therefore utilizes both meditation and exercises to bring our body and mind into unity, and can be of benefit and enjoyment to anyone. If you are interested in practicing this powerful, holistic approach, there are many books and websites available for further information.
